Find OCIA Classes Near You

Welcome to the OCIA Directory! The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a program for those interested in exploring or joining the Catholic faith. As a new organization, we’re building our directory of OCIA classes nationwide. If you don’t see a program listed in your state, follow these steps to find one:

1. Search for Local Catholic Parishes: Use Google to search “Catholic churches near [your city/state]” or visit your diocese’s website for a parish directory. Most parishes offer OCIA programs starting in September, running through Easter.

2. Contact the Parish: Call or email the parish office to inquire about OCIA schedules, registration, and whether sessions are in-person or online. Ask about inquiry sessions for those just exploring the faith.

3. Check Diocesan Resources: Many dioceses provide OCIA information. For example:

   • Diocese of Memphis: Visit cdom.org or contact the Catholic Center at (901) 373-1200 for parish-based OCIA programs across 46 parishes in West Tennessee.

   • Diocese of Phoenix: Visit dphx.org/parishes for a parish locator.

   • Archdiocese of San Antonio: Contact Laura Oliveros at (210) 734-1655 or laura.oliveros@archsa.org.

   • Archdiocese of Atlanta: Find parish-based programs at archatl.com.

4. Online OCIA Options: If local classes aren’t available, explore online courses like those at CatechismClass.com, widely used for adult faith formation.

Sample OCIA Programs by State

Here are examples of OCIA programs (verify details with parishes, as schedules may change):

• Tennessee (Memphis):

  • St. Peter Catholic Church: OCIA sessions begin September 3, 2025, Wednesdays 6:30–8:30 PM, starting with dinner and fellowship. Open to all, no obligation to join. Contact Christina at christina@stpeterchurch.org or (901) 527-8282. Free parking available.

  • St. Augustine Catholic Church: OCIA for those interested in learning about the Catholic faith, rooted in Scripture and Tradition. Contact the church office to register.

  • Diocese of Memphis: With 46 parishes across 21 counties, contact your local parish or the Catholic Center at (901) 373-1200 for OCIA details.

• Arizona (Mesa): All Saints Roman Catholic Parish – Classes start August, Sundays 9:00–10:30 AM. Contact Deacon Steve via the parish website.

• California (Los Angeles): Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels – Sessions begin September, Sundays. Registration for 2026 opens June 2025.

• Florida (Tallahassee): Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More – Starts September 8, Sundays 10:10 AM. Contact the parish for details.

• Texas (Houston): Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church – Year-round, Wednesdays 7:00–8:30 PM. Contact Heath Vogel at (281) 469-5533.

• Washington, DC: St. Ann Roman Catholic Church – Starts September 29, 2025, Mondays 6:30–8:00 PM. Contact Natalie for details.

About OCIA

OCIA is for unbaptized adults, baptized non-Catholics seeking full communion, or Catholics needing Confirmation or Eucharist. Programs typically include Inquiry, Catechumenate, Purification and Enlightenment, and Mystagogy stages, culminating at the Easter Vigil.
